Dog Walking Thoughts – No 1: K.B.O.

As with all large projects or major goals, in life or work, things can seem too big to be achievable. The usual advice is to break it all down into manageable ‘chunks’ – and that is indeed the way.

When we survey the state of the nation and the West in general, it’s easy to see how so many people feel they are powerless to do anything but vote and rant online, but maybe that’s because they are still looking for that magic wand that will solve everything at once – wiping out the corrupt establishment, dealing with the invaders, and repairing the deep rifts which have been opened up in our society. We see problems like migrant crime, low birth rates, the housing crisis, the hunger for pointless wars, the dismantling of hard-won freedoms and think ‘where do we start’? “If only I was a decent sniper, if only had to money to create an anti-Soros foundation, if only…

Yet so much as we rant about Soros and Schwab, they alone didn’t do this. The Left didn’t achieve their dominance through one person or party – it was many of the b*ggers, each with their own pet campaigns and missions, all united by the same world-view. In the same way, when the Leftist blob dies, the post mortem will record that it was killed by a thousand cuts.

Waiting for a political messiah will just leave you deflated every time a vaguely possible candidate for that position emerges, only to turn out to be just another flawed human being but with some good points. Goodness knows, even Margaret (pbuh) got stuff wrong.

The answer is to focus on what you can do, for you are not alone. Look at the small chunks that you can deal with, through your work, personal connections, voluntary activities, and small projects that can help the cause(s).

Your efforts alone won’t turn the tide, but be assured that there are many others ploughing their own furrow too, look up and you’ll see that we are all working the same big field, planting for the future. Take heart from the Yanks – change for the better is now happening because many millions of Americans did their small bit in many different ways, and not just by voting.

Of course, it is easier for some than others, that’s a given. I can’t risk anything as I work in a regulated sector where anything on my ‘record’ could seriously hinder my ability to make a living. But my bean-counting skills mean I can help organisations that are working for the outcomes that most puffins here would agree with. Outside work those who, for some odd reason, do read the comments might know of my involvement in the anti-ULEZ resistance, and how we have halted the spread of Sadiq Khant’s cameras into our little corner of occupied Kent. (Word from our sources inside City Hall is that the reason Khant has abandoned his own version of pay-per-mile is because of the push-back on ULEZ, and that practically he simply can’t make it work without a properly functioning camera network).

So keep on keeping on, and keep on posting here your own little victories and projects and ideas and small nuggets of inspiration. Naturally, there’s no point doing so in the comments, but Swiss Bob is always happy to receive articles as we know.
