The title is Spanish for “cold drops”. This is the name given to autumn deluges, at least where I lived in Spain for about 7 years, only about 100km from Valencia. There are only a few days a year when this happens and it absolutely buckets down. You can’t see more than a couple of yards and the streets turn into small rivers. This must have been going on for centuries.
The poor people of Valencia, and a couple of other places, got absolutely wiped out in some areas with raging rivers flowing through their areas. Contrary to what the green bar stewards and some politicians are telling us it had nothing to do with climate change and everything to do with green madness.
The city of Valencia has a massive river flowing through the middle of it. This river is dry, or almost dry most of the year but when the rains come it is full and fast flowing. This was always enough to stop flooding so what was different this year.
Maybe there was a bit more rain than usual but the biggest difference was the over 250 small dams that had been demolished at the behest of the green lunatics. These dams had kept the flow of water contained and away from the towns and suburbs around Valencia.
The greenies wanted them gone, possibly for similar reasons to the ban on dredging waterways in the Somerset area. This also resulted in widespread floods.
I detest socialism of any kind and the greenies fall into that category. They are an absolute menace and any kind of extreme weather is now blamed on one of their pet obsessions, climate change being merely one of them. When Communism fell in Eastern Europe, all the hard core commies flocked to the green movement since when they have taken it over. I think they know as much about the climate as Rachel from Accounts knows about economics.
As was the case with Somerset the EU was behind destroying these dams, all in the name of biodiversity.
In 1957 Valencia had catastrophic floods up to 2 metres deep. Franco ordered the construction of the previously mentioned large river and loads of dams. It was these dams that have been removed leaving the area wide open to being smashed to bits by the waters.
As a postscript. It now looks likely that Spain has been getting significantly more rain than usual. I stick with my interpretation that demolishing hundreds of dams is the reason communities were just about washed away. It wasn’t just in the Valencia area that these demolitions were carried out. As usual it is down to woke green nonsense. There are also rumours they have been seeding clouds over Morocco and I have no doubt they have been doing the same over Spain. Remember those lovely blue skies in 2020 when there were very few planes in the sky.
