I used to wallow, absolutely wallow, in self righteousness. The reason was simple. There was no chance we could ever sink so low as to be like those dreadful Nazis were. We, as a nation, would not stand for concentration camps and the murder of people who had effectively done nothing wrong. None of our fine upstanding fellow citizens would ever be prepared to become guards and our police would never be like those awful Gestapo chaps used to be however much they fancied wearing those long leather coats.
Well I was wrong, completely and absolutely wrong. I stopped wallowing in any form of self righteousness in 2020 when the Covid scam was unleashed on us. The old order vanished overnight as the new hardliners took over. It hardly needs adding that the guiding lights in this revolution were extremely left wing and one of the main ones, Professor Susan Michie, was and still is a raging commie. How often are we plagued by academics. Professor Neil Ferguson was another. A specialist on the spread of diseases he had been famously and wildly wrong in just about every prediction he had ever made beginning I believe with his BSE forecasts.
Not only was I wrong in my belief we could never become Nazis, there was a majority of people who would have signed up to work in the camps so great was their hatred of those who did not fall for the lies and deceit. Not only could we have provided a workforce for the camps, we also had a mini industry in snitches, informers who delighted in shopping their fellow citizens for dared to be outside for more than their ten allotted minutes. A budding Stasi if you will.
Plod were a special case. They made up rules on the fly and enforced them, a habit that has not gone away with the demise of Covid itself. They took great delight in terrorising people for sitting on park benches, not keeping moving in parks and horror or horrors, actually speaking to other people. It was bad enough that the politicians tied themselves in knots as they tried to lay down guidelines for what was permissible and what was not. The boys in blue compounded this by making up their own sets of rules. The end result was that people had little idea of what was what and generally stayed in their homes, terrified of what might befall them in our brave new world.
The rules were ludicrous what with the scotch egg fiasco, completely contradictory rules about wearing masks when sitting or standing and so on. The banging of saucepans on Tuesday ( or was it Thursday) evenings in support of the blessed NHS was a masterstroke. So many indulged, the few that didn’t were vilified and to me it was the equivalent of the Nazi torchlight parades at Nuremberg. How totally insane this country looked. Ricky Gervais should be ripping us as a nation a new one for this lunacy.
The lies were spread by the mainstream media and that new phenomenon the influencer. Josef Goebbels, one of the worst Nazis in my view, must be sitting down there in the fire and brimstone of hell looking jealously at what is available these days for spreading propaganda. He mainly used radio and film, TV was still in its infancy then. He would have loved social media.
As many will be aware, the print media is on its knees and gasping for air. The gummint bribing them to spread the Covid message was mannah from heaven. Their days are numbered and until they figure out a way to make a living from an online presence they are heading in the same direction as the poor old dodo. Of course being handed oodles of dosh meant they were not too fussy about what they printed. The lies flowed liberally from their pens, after all the money was much needed.
A far more sinister area was individual journalists, yes Piss Moron and Nick the Dick Ferrari, I am referring to you among many others. You could see the spittle as they railed against those who refused to be poisoned by the jab or its boosters. They wanted us put into camps and denied access to society. Of course now that most people grudgingly accept, but do not like to admit, that they were duped, these cheerleaders are busy pretending they said nothing of the kind and even if they did it was well meant. They can FRO.
It is my belief that financial inducements were used to encourage these points of view. In Ferrari’s case it was exacerbated by him being grossly overweight and therefore at high risk of being a victim of Fauci’s modified flu. As far as influencers are concerned they are just grifters and will say and do anything if there is money in it. How else can they be expected to maintain their extravagant lifestyles.
I saw little to assuage my doubts about my fellow citizens, they would have donned the brown uniforms, black in some cases, and stomped about rounding up heretics and sending them off to camps where others in similar uniforms would have merrily set about exterminating us reprobates.
The one shining light in recent months has been the revulsion shown to Keith having people locked up for hurty tweets. It is more than obvious that Keith longs for camps the same way I used to long for Madeleine Smith and Caroline Munro among others. He would love nothing better than locking up people he disapproves of. Yes he still has willing accomplices, especially in the ranks of plod, but his personal popularity has collapsed and I am sure this is because the voters have looked into the abyss and did not like what they saw.
As kids we often said things were not fair. As we go through life there is a lot that is not fair though we learn to live with it. What remains though is that in essence we are a people who want things to be fair, a utopia we are unlikely to ever reach but an admirable goal nonetheless. I start to feel a little of that self righteousness returning, not a lot but enough to give me hope for the future.
