Featured Album: Pink Floyd – Shine On You Crazy Diamond
This is a series of articles looking at albums from 1960 to 1999. Just cannot go on that much longer with the drivel that is the 90’s with worse to come from 2000 onwards!

As before, it is not just about the songs and tunes, it is very much about memories, and good ones, I hope.

1995 was a bit of a scorcher, stupidly hot. Not much in the news again, Eric Cantana did 14 days nick for not being nice to a spectator. Bet Lynch left Coronation Street.
The featured album for 1995 is: Pink Floyd – Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Pulse is the second live album by the English rock band Pink Floyd. The album was recorded during the European leg of Pink Floyd’s Division Bell Tour in 1994. The album is notable for including a complete live version of The Dark Side of the Moon. It also features “Astronomy Domine”, a Syd Barrett song not performed since the early 1970s. The track “Another Brick in the Wall, Part II” features small portions of the songs “Another Brick in the Wall, Part I”, “The Happiest Days of Our Lives” and “Another Brick in the Wall, Part III”.
Unlike the previous live album Delicate Sound of Thunder, no parts of the songs were re-recorded in the studio.

I think it was Simon Cowell who just for laughs turned the Soldier Soldier boys (great series that), into “singers”. All electronic voice control of course, way too artificial for my liking. Oasis album is quite brilliant and deserves to be featured but Oasis was last week. Celine Dionne belting out The Power of Love, superb song (Jennifer Rush original). The rest, not so much so in my view. The Simply Red album is extremely boring. Good stuff from Paul Weller, includes The Changingman and the haunting “You do something to me”. I cannot say a bad word about Queen, but this is not their best. I do like The Wets, problem is this album has “Love is all Around, which was No 1 for so many weeks it makes you hate the song for years! Quite like a bit of Pulp and this has “Common People” on it.
Most notable albums for my liking for 1995 though are below:
Human League – Octopussy – not a big lover of techno type music, but I do like this group
Van Halen – Balance – Bit heavy for my liking but I liked Eddie, sadly passed last October.
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band – Greatest Hits – Super album this.
Radiohead – The Bends – Some of their stuff I find really excellent.
Elton John – Made in England – I like Elton.
Chas & Dave – Street Party – Don’t care what you lot say, Chas and Dave (both sadly gone now) were great.
On this topic, one of my most favourite songs is for Chas & Dave, “Aint No Pleasing You”
Rod Stewart – A Spanner in the Works – I like Rod as well. Not his best, but nice.
Sadly, Morrissey had a couple of albums doing well this year, I think his mum must have bought most of them. No doubt the usual suspects will post his suicidal dirges, so I shall not link them.
