Neil Alan John Coyle, most often known as Neil Coyle, has been the Labour MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark since 2015. He is apparently a bit of a motormouth, regularly flinging abuse about. His track record of supporting various people for the leadership is a trifle ropey at best.
He supported the Tramp but later suffered a bout of buyer’s remorse and switched his allegiance to Owen Smith. He chairs the all party Parliamentary Group for Wines and Spirits and nobody would be surprised if he was making very good use of their wares.
In September Coyle described the Fat Turk as “a dick”. Few among us would disagree, some of us might use something a bit stronger but as an MP it is not the sort of thing you should be saying. Even some of his constituents complained , that’s quite something coming from Bermondsey folk, dockers and their descendants are not renowned for their tact.
During the 2019 Labour Conference the Tramp said Labour would not be immediately backing either leave or remain. Coyle described this as BS though he did not use the abbreviation. Later that year he had a row with Piss Moron tweeting that he should go forth and multiply (using fewer words) and also called him a sick little man and a scrote. Again I find it hard to disagree with him but he ought to be able to express himself in a more civilised and subtle manner.
In 202o he had a run in with the Moggster. Still being an EU lover he described Mogg and others of his ilk as sh!tbag racist winkers, or words similar to those and further described them as sh!tlickers.
In 2022 he had a swearing fit at a labour aide in one of the bars at Westminster following a disagreement about the effects of Brexit. A Tory MP who intervened was invited to eff off and lose some weight.
Later in 2022 Coyle was accused of Sinophobia (that’s a new one for me) when insulting a British-Chinese reporter. He said he looked like he could have been giving Chinese currency to Uphill Gardiner whom he accused of being funded by Fu Manchu. Complaints reached the ear of the Speaker and after an investigation Coyle was suspended from the House for five days in 2023.
The same month Coyle had a sexual harassment complaint against him upheld. He had made derogatory remarks about the partner of a young woman and asked her if she would be going back with me or him tonight.
In 2022 Coyle complained about the stress of working as an MP and said he had been off alcohol since March 2022. Judging by his record since then it hasn’t helped much.
