We linger a while longer in 2023 where we encounter Diane Julie Abbott who has been the MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington since 1987. After getting a 2:2 in History she went through a series of jobs, none of which lasted very long. According to my resident recruitment expert expert that tends to indicate someone who didn’t fit in or was useless, perhaps both.
She was an admin trainee at the Home Office, a race relations officer at NCCL, a researcher at Thames Television and the same at TV-am, press officer for GLC during the newt fancier’s time in charge and finally Head of Press and Public Relations at Lambeth Council. She then wangled a seat in Parliament and has been a fixture ever since. I am bound to say that she does not seem to be the sharpest tool in the box and is elected more because of her party and skin colour rather than any kind of intelligent discourse; in 1987 she became the first black woman MP on which she has been dining out for decades.
She has been various kinds of Shadow Minister, even Shadow Home Secretary under the Tramp’s leadership. She had been his lover in her younger years. They even visited East Germany on a motorbike together. She was given the title of Mother of the House, not an official position but one she has been known to mention.
In 2010 in what must have been one of the most optimistic tries ever she announced she would be standing in the 2010 leadership election which was won by Militwat. In 2014 she said she was considering standing in the 2016 London Mayoral election, eventually won by Sad Dick, but failed to even get nominated.
In 2017 the Hackney Abacus, as she became known, was skewered by Nick Ferrari on LBC when she was asked how much 10,000 extra police officers would cost. While undergoing interrogation she often paused, shuffled her papers and then gave incorrect answers. It was described as a car-crash but the Tramp was not at all bothered by the fuss.
More Abacus stuff later in 2017, she was asked about the 2017 local election results while counting was still under way. She thought they had lost about 50 seats. When it was pointed out they has lost 125 she said the last figures she had seen were a net loss of about 100.
Shortly after this she was effectively banned by the Tramp and the shadow chancellor, McDonnell, from giving any interviews.
Having been a race baiter all her life, She stepped up to the plate and wrote to the Observer her belief that only black people had any experience of racism. Irish, Jews and Travellers do not experience racism like black people do. Try telling that to the Jews and gypsies who were put in camps by Adolf’s stormtroopers. The Abacus later apologised and said the initial document was a draft. According to the Jewish Chronicle the letter had been sent twice. She lost the whip for that little outburst but it was restored a few months later.
Finally la Abbott decided that the Labour Party was trying to get rid of her by offering her a seat in the Lords but she stuck to her guns and is, to this day, still an MP.
In July 2025 in a BBC interview she was once again kicked out for repeating her views on discrimination. As far as we know she is still suspended.
Finally one of her more candid observations. We all know Chairman Mao was responsible for millions of deaths, probably more than 50 million but numbers like 100 million have been bandied about. The Abacus thought that on the whole Mao had done more good than harm. There is a whole host of anti-white comments that could be mentioned but this an MP who is obsessed to the point of madness how hard it is to be black.
