Net Migration

One of the migration statistics that really annoys me is net migration. This is obviously immigration minus emigration. It is a basically pointless measurement aimed mostly at avoiding the charge of racism. Guilty as charged m’lud. The thing that strikes me is that most immigrants are not going to add anything to our green and pleasant land whereas much of the emigration means we are losing people we might rather keep. The ONS keep voluminous statistics on this and they go up to 2024 with the caveat that they will later be revised.

The biggest question is how reliable are these statistics. The ONS admit themselves that the emigrant statistics are little better than guesswork. There is no duty to tell the gummint that you are leaving and the ONS is reduced to trying to analyse passenger names from Airline manifests. The other big question is what exactly is immigration and emigration. They answer this by saying it is when somebody moves to another country for at least 12 months. Quite how they deduce this from passenger lists is beyond me.

Even the immigration stats are questionable. They can count how many visas are issued and even perhaps how many are taken up. They obviously don’t count passengers from countries that do not require a visa. They can count the small boat arrivals (the infamous dinghy invaders) because the Border Farce is their taxi service. They can’t count the number of people smuggled in lorries and in car boots.

While these statistics are inaccurate to say the least, they are our only hope of seeing how big the problem is and the answer is – it is huge.

To year end 2024 they claim net migration is down by almost 50% – the provisionally estimated figure is 431,000 compared to 860,000 in 2023. The claim is that this decrease is being driven by a decrease in people arriving on work and study related visas and an increase in emigration.

The numbers immigrating is estimated at 948,000 during 2024, this is down from 1,326,000 in 2023. The numbers fleeing this earthly paradise was estimated at 517,000, an increase of about 11% compared to 2023’s 460,000 voting with their feet. 948k minus 517k gives us the previously mentioned 431k for net migration. There was a an 86% reduction in the number of study dependents, in numbers 105,000) and a 35% (81,000) decrease in the number of work dependents.

I have often been accused of being a bit dim but why do people coming here to study bring dependents. You have to assume they will be getting bennies to pay for all this. Bennies are funded from our wallets !

The immigration numbers consist of

  • 81% non-EU+ nationals
  • 13% EU+ nationals
  • 6% British nationals.

EU+ is the EU plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

There is no indication of the type of British national, they give out passports like confetti these days.

The Hong Kong-ers are now included in the non-EU+ category. The various flavours of British National are

  • British Citizen
  • British Overseas Territories Citizen
  • British overseas Citizen
  • British protected person

The latter two categories are an utter can of worms but they don’t have the right to live in the UK, not that it stops anyone these days.

For 2024 the breakdown of emigrants is as follows

  • Non-EU+ 43% or 222,000
  • EU+ 42% or 218,000
  • British Nationals 15% or 77,000

We can be reasonably sure that many of this 77,000 have been of benefit to our country and we would be better off if they stayed.

Those on visit visas are filtered out because they are only eligible to stay for 6 months. How many times do we read someone has overstayed their visa so there will be thousands missing in this category.

If you read the technical description of their sources and methodology you will come to the same conclusion I did. The statistics are to all intents and purposes, completely wrong.

There should be more headlines about total immigration and whence it originates along with a warning that these statistics are hopelessly wrong. Anybody who claimed asylum because it was too dangerous to stay in their own country should have any permissions to be in this country removed if they go on holiday to said dangerous country.

Just because nobody else wants this riff raff is no reason for us to accept just anybody who rocks up on our beaches or arrival halls.

The ONS has also helpfully produced a population projection for the period 2022 to 2032. They reckon the 2022 UK population was 67.6 million *cough* and it will rise to 72.5 million by 2032. With a projected 6.8 million deaths balanced out by 6.8 million births the rise in population will be fuelled by net migration of 4.9 million. They are reckoning on an average of 340,000 per year turning up with begging bowls ready. I am calling BS. The net migration will be higher and the births will be higher, these relatively recent imports have little to do other than procreate – their lifestyle is funded by those of us paying taxes. I did find another report somewhere that predicted the UK would be empty by 2150 without importing these savages.

I say if we are not producing enough children then why doesn’t the gummint figure out why and then try to reverse the trend of fewer children instead of pushing all kinds of perversions on us. Many puffins may be past the age of child bearing and rearing but the rest of you need to get out there and start bonking. I am prepared to accept that some of you, without mentioning names, have been on that path for some considerable time!
