The Church of England have appointed a new Archbishop. This appointment has confirmed my prior belief and suspicions, that the Church of England is doomed to its fate. It will not grow, it will not prosper, it will wither like the vine in the scorching sun, it will become a ruin, a haunt of jackals, desolate forever. I have shaken the dust of my feet and left it where it belongs. The congregation were open and welcoming, but old, and shrinking as it is everywhere. The Church building is as you would expect, built in glory, the interior draped in centuries of tradition, an anchor to timeless faith that has existed long before and after. In its physical appearance it stirs the embers of the soul to a connection to something greater. But the tenets of worship taken under this modern view of morality have corrupted and condemned the C of E.
The rot was fomenting for many years before, long before I was born. But the decay truly took hold in the Former Archbishop Justin Welby. His praise of Islam, denouncing of Britons who have a problem with Immigration, the appointing of homosexual bishops and homosexual blessings, my list of grievances with his tenure go on and on. To me, he is the embodiment of what is wrong with the “Modern Church”. Did he care? No. In a 2019 interview, when asked about declining attendance he claimed that the decline was flattening and it wasn’t a big deal. Despite every other Denomination of Christianity growing, ignoring the command of Christ to grow and spread the faith. As it is written:
Matthew 28:19-20
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
When questioned about a number of C of E vicars who had converted to Catholicism, he responded with “Who cares?”. Indeed, who should care if vicars leave the church, if the archbishop doesn’t, who should care if the church of England dies. He certainly doesn’t, so why should I?
And I am not alone in views, in 2023 he was denounced by the International Anglican community for establishing blessings of homosexual marriage and declaring “the LORD our God, the FATHER, the SON and the holy spirt.” as “non-binary”. The Head Bishop of the Church of England is no longer the spiritual head of the English church. At reading these words of his I bubbled with rage. In times long ago he would have been condemned as a heretic and put to death. I finally washed my hands of the C of E. In 2024 he was pressured to step down, not because of his abandonment from all the other Anglican churches, not because of his failure to restore or even maintain the diminished church of England, no. It was because he didn’t send enough police reports, after his first police reports, about an event 40 years before he even knew about it.
I had hoped that the new archbishop would be more traditional, with less emphasis on “Unconditional love” that the modern church preaches and more emphasis on fire and brimstone, more condemnation of sin and strength of conviction, and most importantly fear of God. As it is written:
Proverbs 9:10
“Fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
If Justin Welby is the embodiment of the “Modern Church”, his replacement is the embodiment of the modern state. Sarah Mullally was one of the first woman bishops consecrated by Justin Welby, one of his creations, propelled to the top position above those remaining in the dwindling congregation he led. Formerly the Bishop of London. Before that she was an NHS manager, a metropolitan londonite to her core. She describes herself as a pro-choice feminist. She previously led the Church of England’s Living in Love and Faith consultation on marriage, sexuality and gender identity which paved the way for its approval of same-sex blessings. Calling its approval “A moment of hope.” In her opening address as archbishop, she proudly proclaimed “Hatred and racism of any kind cannot be allowed to tear us apart.” Something that wouldn’t go amiss at a labour party conference. I could go on, but every other view you see from her could simply be described as “tick-box”. Now tell me, does she inspire you with confidence that she can lead and grow the flock? That she can mend the schism between the Anglican churches? That she can revitalize the young of today to take up the banner of Christ? No, me neither, It’s like I’m looking at Theresa may with a dog collar, the more I read the more the similarities grow

Expect more of the same from her, at this point the C of E deserves to be destroyed. If you didn’t believe in the arrogance and delusion of these people who have been appointed to positions of authority over the last few decades, you would suspect that it was sabotage. It gives credence to the rumours about King Charles being a convert to Islam, deliberately seeking to sabotage the Church of England. I don’t want to believe them, but I have seen little to prove them wrong. I Continue to give our King the benefit of the doubt in his faith, but his leadership is lacking in his Church.
The faith has been growing, you would be blind not to see it, when times get tough, the soul returns to the Lord where it belongs. The Catholics have grown, the Baptists have grown, the Methodists have grown, even the Orthodox have grown, all the other denominations have grown, but have the Church of England? No, we need and yearn for God, not modern, empty spiritualism that speaks of love for all and approval of all.
I myself attend an evangelical church now, a great Sunday school and no compromises in their faith, the style of worship is not to my liking and very “American”. It lacks the tradition and grandeur of a real church. The music is contemporary and the prayer is longer, less structured. Never before have I seen a standard a congregation under the average age of 40. While these newer styles aren’t for me, they are effective, which is more important than my personal preferences. Style can be overlooked; Faith is what is important. My prayers go out to the faithful who still remain in that husk, they are old and know no other way, like I did. When it finally falls, they will be cast out into the wilderness, hopefully into those waiting to receive them.
