A la recherche du temps perdu (Proust)
There was a time
There was a time now long away,
when I had peace, a quiet mind,
my days were slow, my heartbeat too,
those days before you came to stay. But now, what now, what do I find,
I do not cease to think of you,
I want to soar, I want to fly,
I can no longer be confined. Those joys you gave, those joys you give,
just being you and wanting me,
you give so much, you give so well,
my darling one you help me live.I live again those moments when
we were together, giving love,
holding and touching, quiet too,
it is so hard to leave you then. But leave I must, it must be so,
we both know why, we both know well,
an old, old tale, like a trilogy,
if one should stay – another go.I shan’t complain, or question why
it’s all beyond this simple man,
to be with you and love you so,
Today, tomorrow, I’ll get by,I’ll get by but at what cost,
an unquiet mind, a turmoil too
of mixed emotions,tumbling thoughts
what can I do, my heart is lost.Who touches us we cannot choose,
dare we must or put away
a part of nature we both share,
you’re something I don’t want to lose.So darling one, enough for now,
just writing so has eased my mind,
remember that I need you so,
we cannot tell or question how.
Lovers
Who touches us we cannot choose
a poet once did say,
I think he thought of you and me,
he surely saw the way
that you and me were bound to be
lovers from the start
now I possess the World in you –
and you possess my heart. That moment
That moment poised, as poised we are
upon the lip of fate
the time that makes all time stand still
the moment we await
transition then, from what we are,
to what we soon shall be,
new lovers then, a moment more
I sigh, for you, for me……………
