Tulip Siddiq is the UK’s Economic Secretary to the Treasury and a cabinet member. Her current role includes responsibility for tackling corruption in UK financial markets.

Her aunt is Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh from 1996 to 2001 and 2009 to 2024. Hasina is the daughter of the first Bangladeshi President, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This is not a family who have known poverty for many generations.

Tulip has been accused of helping to broker a £10 billion deal with Russia for the Rooppur nuclear plant. At the time she was a councillor in the London Borough of Camden.

She supposedly facilitated meetings between Bangladeshi officials and the Russian government leading to the deal.

The deal included the Russian state backed company Rosatom. Siddiq attended the signing ceremony for the deal at the Kremlin in 2013 alongside her aunt Sheikh Hasina, the then President of Bangladesh, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

It is further alleged that £1 billion was siphoned off from the budget in collusion with Russian officials,

The Bangladesh Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating claims that Siddiq and her family embezzled up to £3.9 billion from this and other infrastructure deals. If this ACC gets a big enough bung the slate will be wiped clean.

Poor Tulip has denied any involvement in the alleged embezzlement.

Labour’s reaction to this is to say that these allegations originate from a spurious American aerospace website. Our dear Leader has full confidence in Siddiq until he doesn’t. It’s all turning a bit football managerish.

An anti-corruption minister who is herself up to her neck in dodgy dealing. It’s as if Neil Pillock never went away. All we need now is for a full vote of confidence from our dear leader accompanied by “It’s within the rules” followed by “It is the right thing to do” as he sacks her.

Tulip, now in her 4th term as an MP, is obviously a Muslim but claims to be more cultural than religious. She now lives in Barnet with her husband whose first name is Christian and whose surname is Percy. I suppose she should now be categorised under NHRN.

The Tory Party has now waded in and if anyone can be an expert in corruption it is those shysters.  They have accused Tulip of having housing provided by a key donor to her aunt and failing to properly declare interests.

As well as being a hard working MP and Minister Tulip also has several governorships and trusteeships under her belt. It is important to emphasise that these are all allegations and nothing has been proved yet.
