Peter Benjamin Mandelson, these days better known as Baron Mandelson, has had to resign 3 times from official positions. A devious snake of a man one hopes he is finally out of our sight. He was the MP for Hartlepool from 1992 until 2004. In 2008 he took the ermine so he could join the disaster that was the government of the Caledonian Cyclops. Peter was one of the leading lights when New Labour was created.
Mandelscum’s three defenestrations were in 1998 regarding an undisclosed loan made by a colleague, Geoffrey Robinson, in 2001 he was alleged to have used his influence to get a British Passport on behalf of Srichand Hinduja and finally in 2025 when as our Ambassador to the USA he had to fall on his sword when it was discovered just how close he was to Epstein.
Three strikes and you are out but in each case there was much more to the story.
The £373,000 loan from Geoffrey Robinson was used to purchase a house in Notting Hill in 1996, it was interest free. Peter was far above having to declare such thing and so he didn’t. At the time Robinson’s business dealings were under investigation and shortly after Mandelscum was in charge of the department carrying out the investigation and of course it was all smoothed over.
Other than gloating at the demise of a perfect scoundrel I took little notice of the details at the time. It looks like he had go to because of conflict of interest rather than not declaring a loan. How many among us have had a £373k interest-free loan which we forgot about.
In 2001 he had to resign again because had taken too close an interest in a passport application by an Indian chap named Hinduja. The Hinduja brothers were under investigation by the Indian authorities in connection with the Bofors scandal. In the 2001 GE he retained his seat with the famous quote “I am a fighter not a quitter”. He then stepped down to become the UK’s European Commissioner, he obviously fitted in well in that cesspit of corruption.
There were many incidents during his time as EU Commissioner that could be summed up as mixing with people under investigation or who benefited from his decisions including the fiasco on Deripaska’s yacht. A real wrong ‘un is our Peter.
In 2008 he was ennobled and joined the Brownian cabinet as business secretary. When Labour was booted out in 2010 Peter joined forces with Ben Weg-Tosser to found Global Counsel, a lobbying firm.
In 2015 when the Tramp was elected as Leader of the Labour Party, Mandelscum voiced his opinion that Labour was now unelectable. The next few years were spent dabbling in various political things until December 2024 when Mandelson was nominated as the next Ambassador to the USA despite a Trump campaign adviser declaring Mandelson to be a complete moron. And then pretended to be a diplomat ! Being diplomatic was certainly not one of the requirements of the job.
In May 2025 the worm turned and Mandelson mentioned his respect for the Donald and respect for the will of the people. Trump as usual was quite warm to a former critic, perhaps the pat on the back was to measure where his shoulder blades are ensuring the knife enters cleanly.
We now come full circle and Mandelson was irretrievably connected to Jeffrey Epstein, whom he called Yum Yum (me neither), and all his sordid business. In September 2025, after only seven months in the job, Mandelson was sacked because of the Epstein link.
When the story broke questions were asked about how on earth he ever got the job, was he not vetted and all that. The answer was that our dear leader pushed him into the job bypassing all advice from anywhere and it seems he was not officially vetted, had he been he would have failed.
Multiple chances at top jobs and yet he failed three times and it probably should have been more. A man fascinated by the corrupt side of political life. It should be a lesson to us all.
